Viennese architect Margarete Schütte-Lihotzky is best known as the designer of the Frankfurt Kitchen, forerunner of modern fitted kitchens. Her work was informed by her communist politics — a cause in whose name she joined the resistance against Nazism.
Christine Zwingl is an architect and was part of the Margarete Schütte-Lihotzky research group that cataloged the architect’s archive in the 1980s and ’90s. She has managed the Margarete Schütte-Lihotzky Room in Vienna since 2014. Her most recent book is Margarete Schütte-Lihotzky: Spuren in Wien (Promedia Verlag, 2021).
