Georgios Giannakopoulos is a visiting research fellow at the Centre for Hellenic Studies, King’s College London. He teaches modern history at City University of London and at the London School of Economics. His is currently writing a book on the history of European interventions in Greece for Bloomsbury Academic.

Today marks 200 years since the beginning of the Greek Revolution. The uprising secured Greece’s national independence — but also expressed the anti-imperialist and democratic vision carried by a global revolutionary movement, from France to the black Jacobins in Haiti.
