The Unhinged Racist Response to France’s School Protests

Donald Trump and J. D. Vance have called France’s protests the work of Muslim and Third World invaders. Ignoring the movement’s roots in high schooler demonstrations, they are using violent episodes to paint a dark picture of racial conflict.

After protests and riots swept France this weekend following the escalating social movement sparked by high schooler blockades, right-wingers internationally responded with a straightforwardly racist narrative. They’re portraying the protests as the work of Muslim invaders, in a treasonous alliance with astroturfed left-wingers, who are working to torch the country.

“France is burning!” Donald Trump reacted. “The immigration of people from an entirely different world, people with hatred in their hearts, has shattered that once great country. Close your Borders and take control, before it is too late!”

“Western liberals imported the third world into France and other countries in the name of diversity and compassion. They ignored fundamental questions of assimilation and compatibility. They were told it would lead to this and they didn’t listen,” Trump’s vice president, JD Vance, posted in reaction to a video of the bell tower of the Limoges Town Hall falling in flames. “I pray that France, a beautiful country of amazing people, will stop this madness before more of its landmarks burn. And I hope Americans are paying attention. This is the future congressional Democrats seek for your country.”
