Jacobin Turns 15 Today

Here’s why we still publish.

In the years after 2010, Jacobin soon became a magazine a great variety of socialists could identify with even while socialism remained a relatively fringe force. But it also did more than that, not just voicing the many forms of dissent, but training us to think of socialism as a realistic future responding to the material interests of the great majority. This issue hits newsstands on almost exactly the fifteenth anniversary of Jacobin magazine. Since 2010, we’ve published fifty-nine issues and 19,626 online articles. Around 200,000 individuals have been Jacobin subscribers at one point or another, and we’ve helped shape the theory and practice of a generation of socialists.

It’s been a fun ride. But to remember what we’re doing this all for, we reproduce here a little note I wrote on the occasion of our sixth anniversary in 2016.
