Teachers in Chicago were locked out of instruction platforms after voting to teach remotely, a push to pressure Mayor Lori Lightfoot to meet demands for a safe return from winter break. Teachers returned to in-person work a week later, after reaching a compromise with Chicago Public Schools that included the expansion of student COVID-19 testing and additional PPE provision for instructors.
