Now that Roe v. Wade is overturned, individual states are implementing draconian restrictions on abortion. Bans across the Bible Belt might require women to drive hundreds of miles — in some cases, over 1000% farther than previously — to receive abortion care.

If all 26 states classified as likely or certain to ban abortion by the Guttmacher Institute follow through with legislation, the many American women of reproductive age living in and near them will face serious consequences. Well over 100,000 abortion-seekers might be prevented, in many cases by travel distance alone, from receiving care each year.
