The Editors

New York–area readers: join Bhaskar Sunkara, Nancy Fraser, and Matt Bruenig for a May Day discussion about what comes after capitalism — and how we get there.

Join Jacobin this May Day in NYC for a conversation about what socialism could look like in the twenty-first century and how we can build it.

This May Day, Jacobin invites you to a conversation about what socialism could look like in the twenty-first century — and how we can build it. A party will follow.

Jacobin founding editor Bhaskar Sunkara will moderate a discussion between theorist Nancy Fraser and commentator Matt Bruenig. In these bleak political times, they’ll discuss the big, long-term questions of socialist politics: How do we move beyond capitalism? What should ownership, democracy, and work look like under socialism? And what lessons can we draw from past efforts to build a more just world?

Nancy Fraser is a professor of philosophy and politics at the New School for Social Research and the author of Cannibal Capitalism. Matt Bruenig is the founder of the People’s Policy Project and a frequent contributor to Jacobin. Bhaskar Sunkara is working on a book with Mike Beggs and Ben Burgis presenting visions of the world after capitalism (Verso, fall 2026).
